Featured Story LIGHTS FOR LANE STADIUM!!!! August 25, 2006 A new football season always brings excitement. This year at Lane Tech, the excitement will be at a fever pitch as permanent lights will be installed for the very first time. There have been night games played under the lights at Lane stadium in the past but they have always been temporary lights. See the table below listing the night games. The results of those games have been fantastic. In all instances the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. Prior to the 2004 season Lane played home games at Lane stadium in the day. So most games were played on a Saturday afternoon. Those day games have generally been very well attended. But Saturdays are traditionally College football days and Friday nights are generally reserved for high school football. In fact, most of the top programs in the state have lights installed in their home stadiums and play Friday night games. Maine South of Park Ridge has decided not to install lights and play their home games on Saturday afternoons but for the most part most of the good football programs throughout the state play home football games on Friday nights. For the last couple of years, the combined efforts of some dedicated individuals have pushed for lights to be installed at Lane stadium. Congratulation to the efforts of the Lane Tech Football Booster Club, The Field of Dreams Committee, Alumni contributions, The Lane Tech Century Foundation, and all those involved in this historic event. The first ever Lane Stadium night game with permanent lights will be played on opening night of the football season when Lane Tech plays Lockport on Friday, August 25, 2006.
