Stevenson vs. Lane Tech
It's unofficial but latest reports has Lane Tech playing at
Stevenson on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 7:00pm in the first
round class 8A playoff game.
Game Preview
Stevenson has lost two games this year to two very quality teams
in undefeated Libertyville and speedy Lake Zurich Bears.
Stevenson has a very big team and that is big as in size. They
also feature a good running back in Dan Dowd who some say is
still recovering from an ankle injury. Last year Stevenson was a
great running team with Breckheimer and Johnson and balanced
that with passing from Preston Earl.

Stevenson's team lacks Division 1 talent but has a massive
offensive line and is very capable of passing against opponents.
Stevenson is 7-2 this year with losses against an undefeated
Libertyville team and a speedy, state ranked Lake Zurich team.
Lane last met Stevenson in the 2003 state playoffs when
Stevenson beat Lane 23-20. In that game Lane Tech missed 3 extra
points.

Pre-Game Party- There will be a special pre-game
party at the Lane Courtyard held by the Lane Tech Century
Foundation or Fields of Dreams Committee. Local Politicians
will likely attend.
-
Conference championship- The winner of this game will
lay claim to the Illini-Redbird Conference championship.
Curie is looking to end the Lane stranglehold of the
conference the past years.
-
Playoff Implications- The winner of this conference
will receive an automatic bid to the IHSA state playoffs.
The loser will not be eliminated because a great
majority of 5-4 teams still qualify for the playoffs.
More on playoffs pairings from the IHSA.

(Lane Stadium- Chicago, IL) – Last year Lincoln Park High School
was champions of the Public League Chicago Big Shoulders
Conference. As a result, they moved up to the more competitive
Illini-Red Bird Conference with Taft, Curie, Whitney Young,
Mather, and Lane Tech. The results so far have not been so
promising for Lincoln Park as they have lost 38-8 to Curie,
19-14 to Mather, and beat 1-5 Taft 6-0. Perennial conference
champion Lane Tech added to their woes as Lane crushed Lincoln
