Stephanie Hughes Signs With DePaul

    Lane Tech senior cross country and track runner Stephanie Hughes signed with DePaul University to run track and field.

Hughes was a big component in leading Lane Tech in winning the city cross country championship for all four of her years running cross country at Lane Tech and for the last three years for the Girls Track and Field team. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, she was on the Girls Track and Field team that beat perennial state power Morgan Park for the city championship. Individually, she won the girls city championship in cross county all four of her years. This spring she is also going for her 4th consecutive 3200 meter individual city championship and 4th consecutive team championship.

    Hughes joins a DePaul Blue Demons Track and Field team that also has two former Lane Tech runners, Stephanie Williams and Jessica Rodriguez. Williams and Rodriguez ran on the 3rd place state finishing 4x100 relay and the 4th place finishing 4x200 relay. Lane Tech finished 14th in the state that year, the highest place a Lane Tech girls track and field team has ever finished in state.
