Fall Sports November 20, 2006 Northside Schools Dominate Public League in Fall 2006 · Lane Tech, Northside Prep, Vonsteuben, Mather, and Payton finished in the top 4 in a vast majority of all sports. Fall 2006 was another banner year for Lane Tech in the Public League. Lane Tech won varsity championships in girls swimming, girls cross country, and sixteen-inch softball. Furthermore, Lane Tech finished runner up in boys cross country and in boys soccer. So out of 10 varsity sports in the fall Lane Tech finished in the top 2 in 5 of the 10 sports. Northside Prep also had 5 teams finish in the top 2 including city championships in volleyball and girls golf. LaneTechFan.com was able to obtain results for 15 out of at least 18 possible sports listed in the above table. 10 sports are varsity sports and the rest are sophomore, freshman, or junior varsity results. They’re maybe a couple levels that I missed while stating the results. Analyzing the 2006 sports results we see a couple of trends: · Lane Tech and Northside Prep appears in the top 4 in every single sport except for football. · Northside schools occupy the vast majority of the top 4 spots. These northside schools include Lane Tech, Northside Prep, Mather, Payton, and Vonsteuben. In fact of the 16 sports where there are records, those five schools claimed the top 2 spots in all but one sport, boys varsity football. Morgan Park and Hubbard in varsity football prevented a clean sweep.
