Lane upsets top seed Young
Amy Nokes had six kills and 12 digs
to lead eighth-seed Lane (9-13) to a 25-22,
25-18 upset of top-seeded Young in the
Chicago Public League quarterfinals at Senn
on Monday.
Nicole Rizzo added four kills, and Daina Kriesemint had four blocks for the Indians.
''Nobody thought we could beat them,'' Nokes said. ''But we had the momentum and never gave up.''
Sydney Campbell led Young (18-4) with nine kills, and Simone Asque added eight.
In the second match, Von Steuben (18-6) got 13 assists and two aces from Nadejda Ivanova and four kills each from Liz Rasinski and Kristine Jerome to defeat Kelvyn Park 25-17, 25-23.
Marisol Zayas had four kills for Kelvyn Park (23-8).
