Peter Bielecki and German Cervantes Make Tribune All State Teams

  • Peter Bielecki also named to Chicago Sun-times all-area 3rd team

Midfielder German Cervantes and Defender Peter Bielecki have been named to the Chicago Tribune All State team.  Once again the boys soccer team is showing that in 2006 they have the most state caliber talent for any Public League soccer team for Bielecki and Cervantes were the only Public League members named to the team. Cervantes was named to the second team all state and Bielecki was listed as a special mention on this coveted list. Peter Bielecki has not gotten strong interest from colleges yet but in the next few weeks it may pick up. Bielecki said he felt he has not gotten enough exposure this year because of the club soccer team he plays for but Bielecki was also named to the Chicago Sun-times all-area third team last week. So now due to his play in the field Bielecki is finally getting more of the exposure he deserves.

Congratulations to Peter Bielecki and German Cervantes. Hopefully, their example will help the continued growth and improvement of Lane Tech's already very successful soccer programs.

FORWARDS
Efrain Villanueva, sr., Oak Forest

Villanueva was able to create shots on offense despite multiple marks and physical play. The Bengal scored a school-record 45 goals this season and 109 during three-year varsity career.
College: Undecided.

Pari Pantazopoulos, sr., Prospect
A quick and crafty attacker who used speed and savvy to dissect opposing defenses, Pantazopoulos scored 20 goals and added eight assists for the Knights. He's deciding between playing in Europe or going to college.

MIDFIELDERS
Anthony Colaizzi, sr., Warren

Colaizzi excelled during pressure-cooker time and scored many of his 25 goals in prime-time situations this season. He also added 20 assists for the Class AA state tournament runners-up.
College: Marquette.

Rudy Garcia, sr., Peoria Notre Dame
The four-year varsity starter was skillful and slick at center-mid, but he also played in the back. Garcia had 13 goals and 17 assists this season and 57 goals and 65 assists in his Irish career.
College: Undecided.

Kyle Luetkehans, sr., Lyons
His keen and composed play in the center of the pitch took the Lions to the Pepsi Showdown and sectional finals despite nine new starters. Luetkehans recorded 13 goals and 14 assists this season.
College: Undecided.

Adrian Ortiz, Morton
Ortiz sliced and diced through opponents like a Veg-O-Matic through vegetables, scoring 22 goals and adding 16 assists to lead the Mustangs to their first state soccer trophy since 1973.
College: Undecided.

Matt Stummer, sr., Benet
Few could bend it like this Redwing on his intimidating restart rockets. He helped lead Benet to multiple weeks in the Tribune's Top 10. Stummer had 16 goals and added nine assists.
College: Marquette.

DEFENDERS
Sean Foreman, sr., New Trier

The skilled technician disrupted attacks by land and by air.

Milan Tica, so., Morgan Park Academy
Tica's size (6-4, 190), athleticism and soccer acumen combined to make the underclassman a force all over the field. He helped leaded the Class A Warriors to their first state tournament championship trophy.

David Tiemstra, jr., Hinsdale Central
The strong (6-1, 175), aggressive and skilled center back gave opponents a Red Devil of a time. Tiemstra's strength in the air allowed him to make an impact on both offensive and defensive ends of the field.

GOALKEEPER
Steve Purdy, sr., St. Charles N.

He was a powerful, physical presence between the pipes for the Saints this season. Purdy stopped penalty kicks at a nearly 50 percent rate and helped lead his squad to its first Elite Eight.
College: Marquette.
