(Lane Tech Stadium- Chicago, IL)   Lane Tech and Hyde Park are both known as the Indians. However, in tonights first round Public League playoffs that was about the only thing they shared in common. Lane Tech dominated Hyde Park in almost every phase of the game in a 42-0 shutout of Hyde Park.  The scoring started for Lane on a 25 yard reception by Fuad Salami form quarterback Robert Pienkos on Lane’s first possession. After that score Lane never looked back. On Hyde Park’s next possession, Salami blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the Hyde Park end zone to give Lane a quick 14-0 first quarter lead. Lane never looked back after that and scored touchdowns on a 3 yard run by Christopher Blackmon, a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Robert Pienkos, a 10 yard run by Chris Anton, and a 21 yard run by back up running back Christopher Kyles.

The season ends on a sour note for Hyde Park, who will not qualify for the state playoffs because they are in the Chicago conference of the Public League whose participants are not eligible for state playoff play. On the bright side for Hyde Park, because they won the Chicago conference, they will move up to the more competitive Illini conference of the Public League. Lane will have to wait until this Saturday for their first round opponent when state playoff pairing are announced. Some likely foes for Lane could include: New Trier (who was at the game tonight scouting), Stevenson, Warren, Schaumburg, and Maine South.
