Week 2 Chicago Public League Recap

September 4, 2006

Lane Tech, Simeon, Morgan Park, and Curie all start out the season 0-2 as they lose their first two games of the season to non-conference opponents. These team are generally perennial state qualifiers but the key game for all three of these team will be their next game for a loss will make the team 0-3 and provide very little margin for error the rest of the season. Lane plays Simeon next week. Curie plays a tough Manley team, who upset suburban team Reavis 18-0. Morgan Park will face an easier opponent in Bogan next week.

The Public League upset of the week came when Dunbar routed Maine West at DesPlaines 40-14. Maine West coaches looked at the game films of Dunbar’s week 1 game and were very impressed with their size and skill. Dunbar is looking very strong and so far has shown that they will be a force to reckon with in the Public League.
