Lane Tech to Play Dunbar in 2nd Round Public League Playoff Game

  • Lane Tech vs. Dunbar at Hanson, 6:00pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2006

  • Last year the Dunbar Mightymen knocked out Lane in the first round of the city playoffs.

  • Dunbar plays in the Illini-Prarie State conference, the most competitive conference in the Public League.

  • The Public League football champion has come from the Illini-Prairie state conference every year since at least 2002 except for 2004 when Lane Tech won city.

  • Dunbar won the Public League football championship in 2002.

  • Dunbar biggest win of the season came when they beat Maine West from the north suburbs.

  • Dunbar has one of the best running backs in the city in All-city Emmanuel Garner. Garner ran for 212 yards in a 52-12 win over Brooks in the first round of the Public League playoffs.

  • One of Dunbar's best defensive players is linebacker Larry Cain
