Where is the info about Lane City Champions? There seems to be alot about football. Is Rio the editor of this website? Maybe we can have a page dedicated to him.

Why don't you just call this the Lane Tech Football website? Football isn't the only sport at this great school, and it surely isn't the most successful either. It is a shame that the Athletic Director, the Varsity Football Coach, can't give more attention to ALL the sports. Too bad the Boys Soccer team can't play in Lane Stadium, they were told it is "A Football Stadium." Hopefully there can be more equity amongst the sports, you are only cheating the kids otherwise.

It's so sad that some fans do not remember that it is Football Season! The other sports of the season are being fairly represented . Remember this is a new site. It could be the fact that the football fans are assisting to help make this site even greater than the publisher expected. Instead of complaining how about the other sports assist the creator of this site by sending in their info for proper updates- Neil you are doing an excellent job! Remember you can't please all! By the way… the ONLY team that is allowed to play in the Stadium is the Varsity Football Team. The sophomore and freshman football teams play at Horner Park. The sophomore team has the best record of the season 6-1 and they receive no recognition from the school but they are still doing it!!

Publishers Response to Recent Comments: I think we can all agree that Lane stadium is a great historic stadium and deserving to be used by the students that it supposed to serve. What many people do not realize is that although it is called Lane stadium, the use and management of it's facilities is run by the Chicago Public Schools and not by just Lane Tech. In fact there are other events run at Lane stadium besides Lane football games. Other schools play football games at Lane and there is even a semi-professional women's football league that plays it's home games at Lane stadium. What I'm hearing from these comments is that other sports (soccer, lacrosse, etc) and even other football levels (sophmore, freshman) would love to have more access to the stadium. The good thing is that that particualar need is being addressed. There is a committee called the Fields of Dreams Committee that is working on getting more and better facilities for Lane. Some areas they are looking to include new turf so other sports can use the fields, a better track so we can hold track meets, and atheltic faciliites iincluding to the land west of the stadium. I would love to see their efforts come to reality. For more information see their website www.fieldsofdreams.com. As for the other topic of mainly football on this site. I try to cover much more than football. In recent weeks, I've given coverage on boys soccer, girls volleyball, golf, softball, cross country, and gilrs swimming. I would love to give even more. If anyone has any articles to submit, pictures they want published, or any materials, I will absolutely give serious consideration to publish the material. Personally, when I was a student at Lane I was not on football, rather I ran cross country and track and played on tthe chess team. Talk about sports that lack coverage. Part of my motivation for making this site was to give recognition to all who strive to make Lane a better place and make it more competitively excellent. I want to do whatever I can to go in that direction. Thanks for all your comments, it shows you care about the school. --- Neil Hernandez Publisher

Nice site but when you're going to put in a picture and caption about an Lane alumnus, especially one that has died, make sure you get their name right. The quarterback's name was Mark Whittinghill. Thanks.

Publisher's response to recent comments: 1) Wrestling team- Thank you for commenting about our successful wrestling team. The program has performed well last year. Winter sports season is just around the corner with basketball, bowling, cheerleading, chess, pom pons, boys swimming, and wrestling. I'd love for LaneTechFan.com to give as much quality coverage as possible for those teams. If any readers have any information on those sports please email the publisher at Publisher@LaneTechFan.com. I'm looking for things like schedules, individuals to look out for, team previews, pictures, etc. I want to get as much coverage as possible for these teams bu tin order to do that I'll need submissions of materials from LaneTechFan.com readers. So please spread the word and send the materials. 2) 8th grader- I hope this website reinforces how good of a school Lane Tech really is and that it takes a lot of work, dediciation, and working on the little things every day to make big things happen. Good luck in your school decision. 3) Mark Whittinghill- I apologize for mispelling the name. The correction has been made on the website. --- Neil Hernandez (class of 88) Publisher "You only live once"

this school is so crooked why do all the athletes have to pay $60 for transportation when half the teams have to drive to all their games but sure enough the football team gets their own busses

If you ask the players busses are there for the teams. Many choose to drive so that they do not have to go all the way back to school before going home. Ask the upperclassmen, male and female if they would rather drive or take the bus. G.S.

Publishers response to recent comments: A reader has asked for more coverage on the girls swim team. Part of my motivation for making this site was to give more exposure to all of Lane Tech sports programs not just one sport (like football). Since the site was started in late August 2006, I've tried to include materials for all in season sports. I've written aricles on all fall sports so far. However, much of the material from this site comes from the contributions from readers, coaches, players, the Internet, and from the press. From those sources I've had the most material for football and then probably soccer. Hence soccer and football are covered probably the most in LaneTechFan.com. I'd love to include more from lessor coverage sports like golf, 16-inch softball, girls swimming, and cheerleading but I need material for those sports. So readers, I need your help, if you would like to see other sports covered. spread the word and send materials to me. I'm looking for pictures, articles, informations, rosters, and anything else you think maybe suitable for publishing. Plus, the winter sports are rapidly coming so I'll need material for wrestling, bowling, basketball, pom pons, and chess. So in short, if you want more coverage for a certain sport, please spread the word to send material to Publisher@lanetechfan.com.
