Diana Karouzos Signs to Play Hockey for St. Cloud State

Diana Karouzos, a Lane Tech senior signed a letter intent to play women's hockey for St. Cloud State University. St. Cloud State University a Division II school with 16,000 students is  located in St. Cloud Minnesota.

"Diana is a great skater who sees the ice well and has great puck handling skills...She will be a solid addition to our blue line and will be a great student-athlete for the University."  said SCSU head coach Jeff Giesen.

Lane Tech does not have a hockey team. But, in the spring, Diana plays center field for the very successful Lane Tech girls softball team where she has lettered twice. Diana plays for the Colorado Selects girls hockey club team outside of Lane Tech, She has also participated in the National Championships the last two years and was invited to participate in the USA players development camp in Lake Placid, NY.

Diana Karouzos joins  several Lane Tech class of 2007 atlthetes who will play at the next level next year in college including Stephanie Hughes in cross country (DePaul), Edwin Rodriguez in soccer (Dominican), and Peter Bielecki in soccer (Illinois Wesleyan). There are also many seniors who haven't yet decided or it hasn't been reported yet to be signing including football players Adam Nelson (Harper College?), Durell Jameson (Jackson State?), Chris Anton (Cathage), and Brian Wasik (Catrthage?). Also, Gerald Turner of the boys track team is reportedly interested in running track in college and is considering Hampton among others.

Diana Karouzous plays for the Under 19AAA Colorado Selects girls hockey team which placed third in the nation at the 2006 USA Hockey Girls National Championship. ( www.coloradogirlshockey.com photo)(photo courtesy Mark Nikolich)
