Solid Performance by Basketball Teams

• Boys, 5th at Luther North Tournament

• Girls, 4th at Public League Holiday Tournament

The holiday basketball tournament season is now complete. Both the boys and girls teams had respectable showings. The boys finished in 5th place out of 16 teams in the Luther North Holiday Tournament with a 3-1 record. Whereas the girls team finished in 4th place out of 16 teams in the Public League Holiday Tournament held at Simeon High School. Both teams won the games they were favored to win but just could not pull through on the games they we're not favorite. Lane lost to 3 time defending Luther North Holiday Tournament champion Stagg in the quarterfinals. Lane Tech forward Shelton Jackson was the leading scorer for Lane in the tournament .He has  asserted himself as Lane's biggest scoring threat.

 Whereas the girls team lost to Harlan in the semi-finals. Harlan is a starting to become a nemesis for Lane Tech's girls team. For Harlan, also knocked out Lane Tech 55-47 in the quarterfinals of the Public League playoffs last year. Lane is now 7-9 overall and will need to show continued signs of development if if hopes to advance far in the Public League playoffs in February.
