The 2005-2006 was a banner year for Lane Tech sports history. According to the Chicago Sun-Times Lane Tech sports team won a record 13 Chicago Public League titles after the baseball team beat Clemente 6-4 to win the city boys varsity championship. In addition to baseball Lane took the city crown in the following varsity sports: Boys Soccer, Boys 16 inch Softball, Girls Swimming, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Wrestling, Girls Water Polo, Girl Soccer, Boys Track and Field, Girls Track and Field, Chess, and Boys Swimming. What’s also amazing is that Lane broke its’ own record by an amazing 3 championships. The previous record was 10 city championships in a season by Lane’s sports teams of 2004-2005 and 2003-2004. Congratulations to all of Lane’s sports teams in 2005-2006. They truly are upholding Lane’s tradition of the school of champions.

LaneTechFan.com will keep count of the number of city championships won by Lane Tech in 2006-07. Remember what is most important is not the number of city championships won but the commitment to excellence in improving individually and the team.
