Completely Shocked!!!

Whitney Young stuns Lane 1-0 to win the city baseball championship

(Wrigley Field) This was supposed to be the year for glory for Lane Tech. The varsity baseball team was filled with talent laden seniors poised- no expected to run over the city competition and then make a good run during the state playoffs. During the regular season Lane held form by going undefeated in conference on the way to winning a 7th consecutive conference title. But, Whitney Young dashed all the hopes of Lane Tech winning a third consecutive boys varsity baseball championship by stunning Lane 1-0 in the city championship.

Whitney Young held off Lane from scoring with the bases loaded and two outs in the final inning to take their first ever boys varsity baseball championship. Whitney Young's sophomore team won the sophomore team city championship in 2006

Lane Tech hopes to rebound in the state playoffs. Their first game will be this Thursday, May 24th at Horner Park vs. either Crane or Wells. Further down the playoff road may be a potential clash with either Clemente of Fenwick.
