Victory Lane!

Boys and Girls Track Team Win City Championship!!

 

(Hansen Stadium, Chicago, IL) Lane Tech took care of business by winning the Boys Track Public League Championship and the Girls Track Public League Championship.

 

The Lane Tech boys Lane had first place victories by Fuad Salami in the 100 (11.08) and 200 (22.47), Gerald Turner in the 110 hurdles (15.01), Tory McAlister in the 300 hurdles (40.53), and the 3,200 relay, 400 relay, and the 800 relay. Lane held off a furious effort by Mather and won by a team score of only 145.5 to 121.5.

The Lane Tech girls had first place finishes by Shanita Polk in the Discus (80-01) and Shot Put (30-03), Stephanie Hughes in the 3200 meters (12:00.16), Nia Muhamed in the 100 meter hurdles (14.96), and Morgan Monroe in the 800 meters (2:23.33) and the 300 hurdles with a Chicago Public League meet record time of 45.17. Lane Tech(170.5 points) outscored highly touted Morgan Park (118.3 points), and Whitney Young (97.4 points).
