Lane victory in state playoffs over much favored Loyola one of Lane's biggest victories ever in girls softball!!

It's true. In one of the biggest wins in Lane Tech girls softball history, Lane Tech upset #2 seed Loyola Academy of Wilmette 2-0 in the state sectional semi-finals at Resurrection.

"Next year will be the year" was what everybody kept saying of this young Lane team. After all, Lane graduated many stars form last year's team. Well, next year came early as Lane pulled off a shocker by beating heavily favored Loyola Academy. Loyola may have come into this confident and deservingly so, After all, earlier this year, Loyola easily handled Lane 6-1. But it was not to be for Loyola in this game as Lane prevailed 2-0.

Jazzy Camacho pitched another excellent game to lead Lane to the victory.

Lane Tech is now the first Public League team to win a sectional semi-final game after the elimination of the automatic Public League berth to the state softball series in 2002. Also, since 2002, Lane is the the only team to win a state regional. They won a regional in 2003 but lost to Oak Park River Forest 13-0 in the sectional semi-finals.

Lane Tech has now given up zero runs in 3 state playoffs games mainly behind the pitching of sophomore Jazzy Camacho. See 2007 playoff results below.
