Loyola Academy 73

Lane Tech 51

(Loyola Academy- Wilmette, IL) Lane Tech brought a whopping number of fans boosted by two busloads of wild student fans. Everyone was there from members of the baseball team, volleyball team, girls basketball team, soccer team and coaches from the football team, soccer team  and more. This made for a crazy atmosphere to start the game in a packed Loyola Academy gymnasium with an estimated crowd of 2,100 fans. Half of which we're Lane fans.

Lane kept the game fairly close the first quarter and trailed only 19-13 at the end of the first quarter. The key moment of the game came when Lane Tech season leading scorer Shelton Jackson committed his third foul with 6:54 left in the 3rd quarter. Coach Jarka was forced to take him out of the game for fear of fouling out. That is when Loyola picked up it's and ended up outscoring Lane Tech 24-9 in the second quarter to put the game away.

"I was worried about this game" said Loyola coach Bryan Tucker. "Coach Jarka really prepares his players well, and I was worried about their height inside and overall team quickness."

Loyola used it's bull dog defense to harass Lane all night causing numerous turnovers and easy conversions on the other end.

"I thought the key to this game was our defense." said Tucker.

Congratulations to all of Lane Tech seniors on a wonderful season. Lane graduates it's entire starting line up of Lalo Bellamy, Shelton Jackson, John Holzman, Chris Harris, and Brian Hill.

Lane ends their season with a very good effort and excellent fan showing. On this night, Lola beat Lane on the scoreboard, Lane was right up there with them in effort, fan support, aggressiveness, team play, and morale. The score is only one measure of a team success. But on all the other measures of success, Lane was right there. In that regard, tonight was a victory for Lane.
