Lane's Successful Season Ends at the Hands of De La Salle

    Lane Tech qualified for the state dual team tournament after winning the Mather Regional. Their first round match at the Argo Summit Sectional was against Catholic League power De La Salle who qualified to the Dual team state tournament by winning the St. Ignatius Regional. going into this match, Lane knew De La Salle was going to be a tough foe, for they won eight weight classes out of 1 5in the St. Ignatius Regional. Furthermore, De La Salle arguably had the best individual going into the match in Allen Tate (103 lbs) who made it to the quarterfinals of the state wrestling tournament.

De La Salle proved they were too much for Lane as they handled Lane 49-24.

De La Salle jumped ahead early and ran away with it before the Indians could respond with a legitimate comeback.

Lane got wins from Seniors Scott Minneci (Fall), Adolfo Valdez (Fall in OT) Jamelle Williams (18-11) and Koshion Barfield (Fall). Also State Alternate Koverko avenged his loss to Clayton Kendall, who beat him in the sectional for 3rd place, by defeating him 7-2.

Lane's ends a successful 2006-07 season in which they had  a winning record,  won the Mather Regional ( 2 regionals in a row), qualified an individual, Jamelle Williams to the state meet for the first time since the elimination of the Public League automatic berth a few years ago, and had two state alternates.

Lane graduates several key seniors this year including captains Jamelle Williams, Scott Minnecci, and Koshion Barfield. However, Lane will return a nucleus that includes sophomore Justin Cobb and juniors Yuriy Koerko, Tog Ganbold, and Justin Vargas. Koverko and Cobb were state alternates this year.
